A hot air balloon safari in East Africa is a sensory journey that begins in the quiet, pre-dawn chill of the savannah. Clients can expect an early wake-up call, typically between 4:00 AM and 5:00 AM, followed by a transfer to the launch site where they can watch the mesmerising sight of the balloons being inflated by torchlight.
After a thorough safety briefing from the pilot, you'll climb into the basket and gently lift off just as the sun begins to peek over the horizon. The flight itself is an hour of near-silent suspension, broken only by the occasional roar of the burners, offering a bird's-eye view of the Great Migration herds, winding rivers, and predators beginning their day.
Upon landing, clients are greeted with a champagne toast, followed by a luxurious "Out of Africa" style bush breakfast — tables set in the heart of the wilderness, complete with linens, fine cutlery, and a full buffet of freshly prepared food.

We hope to welcome you to our world of wonders in the Maasai Mara soon.
Beyond the stunning landscapes, the Maasai Mara is globally renowned for its extraordinary concentration of wildlife, including the legendary Big Five: lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants, and Cape buffalo.
If you time your visit between July and October, your game drives will likely intersect with the Great Migration, a spectacular natural phenomenon where millions of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles brave the crocodile-infested Mara River in search of fresh pasture. Guided by expert local Maasai trackers whose knowledge of the terrain and animal behavior is unparalleled, a game drive here is more than just a safari; it is a profound, front-row seat to the ancient and ongoing rhythms of the natural world.
These early morning and late afternoon excursions are the optimal times for wildlife viewing, as the savanna's predators are most active. The thrill of the experience lies in the raw, unscripted nature of the wild; every turn on the dusty trails holds the promise of a breathtaking encounter, whether it is a herd of elephants bathing in a watering hole or a cheetah scanning the horizon from a termite mound.
Step into the world of the local Maasai Mara by visiting their homestead to taste their unique way of life. Gain insight into another culture, allow yourself to be shaped and leave Africa enlightened.
You will never realise how different Maasai life is from your own until you visit a Maasai village. As the village lies outside the National Reserve an hour from camp, your game drive is en-route to the village. Bring cash as the ladies display all sorts of crafts for sale, including colourful ethnic beadwork. Ask your guide about protocols of taking photographs. You can book this excursion in advance or while you are at camp.
Everything just tastes better in the open air, and our bush breakfasts are the best way to start your day on the right foot.
Let us surprise you with an al-fresco picnic bush breakfast/lunch out in the wilds and we’ll pull out all the stops for a special celebration (be sure to let us know). Picnic and camp beverages included. Champagne, special wines & luxury spirits excluded.
Clink a drink as the skies turn pink on our sundowner excursions. A highlight on any safari and the best way to bid the day adieu and welcome the night.
The "sundowner" is a quintessential safari tradition that provides a tranquil, magical conclusion to an exhilarating day of game viewing in the Maasai Mara. As the fierce African sun begins to dip toward the horizon, painting the vast sky in brilliant strokes of crimson, orange, and deep purple, your guide will typically find a scenic, safe spot on the open plains to park the vehicle. A makeshift bar is set up right in the heart of the bush—often featuring the classic safari gin and tonic alongside a selection of light bites. It is a profound moment of reflection where the cooling air, the stark silhouettes of solitary acacia trees, and the awakening sounds of the nocturnal world invite you to simply pause and soak in the timeless beauty of the savanna.
Photography in the Maasai Mara is a dream for both amateur enthusiasts and seasoned professionals, offering a sprawling canvas of dramatic skies and unparalleled wildlife action.
The secret to capturing the Mara's magic lies in capitalizing on the "golden hours"—the fleeting moments just after sunrise and right before sunset when the savanna is bathed in a warm, ethereal light. During these times, the harsh African shadows soften, bringing out the rich textures of the rolling grasslands and casting striking silhouettes of the iconic umbrella thorn acacias. Whether framing a pride of lions resting in the tall grass, catching the dust kicked up by a massive herd of elephants, or panning to track a cheetah in mid-sprint, the dynamic environment constantly challenges and rewards a photographer's eye.
To truly do justice to the sheer scale and intimacy of these wildlife encounters, a telephoto lens is essential, allowing you to capture intricate details—like the rugged texture of a rhino's skin or the piercing gaze of a leopard—without intruding on their space. The Great Migration, a chaotic and awe-inspiring spectacle of millions of wildebeest and zebras crossing the Mara River, provides endless opportunities for high-action shots that demand fast shutter speeds and a steady hand, often aided by a simple beanbag resting on the edge of your 4x4. Beyond the technical aspects, photography in the Mara requires deep patience and a profound respect for the unpredictable rhythms of the wild, ensuring that every image tells a compelling story of survival and beauty in one of the earth's greatest ecosystems.
